Data Processing

One of the most critical stages of eDiscovery, processing is where “data” is converted into “documents” for substantive review. Our team utilizes state of the art data centers that are distributed across multiple servers and geographic environments along with best in breed eDiscovery processing software to quickly and efficiently process data regardless of data volume for our client’s most complex matters. As a result, our clients are able to access their data for review both quicker and cheaper than traditional industry approaches.

Below is a sampling of some of the technology services that our expert team offers related to data processing:

  • Data Ingestion: Our processing technologies are capable of extracting native files, text and metadata for hundreds of thousands of disparate file types. Additionally, we are able to identify password protected and corrupted files, and inform outside counsel of this information via user-friendly reports.
  • De-duplication: During processing, our technologies are able to remove redundant data from your total data corpus on either a custodian, or a global level basis.
  • De-NIST: In the event our team is processing data from local machines, our technologies are able to identify and eliminate in an automated manner data from the “NIST” list, which are system and computer files that are not considered evidentiary in the context of legal proceedings.
  • File Type Filtering: Utilizing advanced file extension lists that allow our clients to only promote data that they would like to review for their matter.
  • Optical Character Recognition (“OCR”): Not all files will be searchable in the context of eDiscovery, and some will invariably need to be made searchable. Our tools are able to scan files and create OCR for files that are not currently searchable.
  • Load File Creation: Exporting native data for utilization in other eDiscovery document review applications, such as Concordance, iConnect or Relativity.
